Waterjet Cutting

 


Apart from its “normal” uses, water is also employed with industrial purposes, in particular in the field of metal processing and cutting. The technique of water jet cutting is the most innovative and flexible in the mechanical field. Its flexibility allows unlimited use in all sectors of industry.

Contrary to traditional methods waterjet cutting machines can cut any type of material such as metal, alloy, plastic, glass, natural stones like marble and granite, up to the latest composite materials.

Waterjet cutting is achieved by pressurizing waterjet at high pressure into a nozzle, which is a tool that follows a predetermined path in accordance with a specific program. Water is pressurized by pumps that multiply the pressure up to 4137 bar.

Nowadays, waterjet cut is still the technique which permits to obtain the maximum production speed: for this reason it is the most appropriate type of cut to be used in a system of continuous production.
